James A. Garfield National Historic Site was authorized as a unit of the National Park System by an Act of Congress on December 28, 1980. It consists of 7.82 acres and contains the home owned by James A. Garfield, 20th President of the United States, and his wife, Lucretia Rudolph Garfield. The property now consists of the home, visitor center, and several outbuildings. The home is accessible only by guided tour. An entrance fee of $5.00 per person is charged for those 16 and older. Please note that the final tour always leaves at 4:15pm. PLEASE NOTE: THE GARFIELD HOME IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC DUE TO CONSTRUCTION/IMPROVEMENTS UNTIL APRIL 2015. The site remains open during regular hours. Visitors may watch a video house tour and biographical film; tour museum exhibits; and walk the grounds during open hours.
