Janet Jackson Releases New Single “Nothing” Featured In The Highly Anticipated Film, Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too?

Posted on 28 March 2010 by mosaec

New York, NY (March 28, 2010) – Grammy Award® winning, Academy Award® nominated singer, actor, songwriter Janet Jackson is set to release her new recording “Nothing” on March 30, 2010. Co-written and co-produced by Janet, the single is the original theme song for her upcoming film Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? Lionsgate is planning to release the film nationwide on April 2, 2010.

Janet is an iconic artist who composed “Nothing” as an emotional ballad that reflects and supports the powerful themes of this Tyler Perry film. Producer Jermaine Dupri promises fans “Y’all haven’t heard her sound like this in a long time.” Played over the end credits, the soft melodious track evokes the emotional turmoil the title characters experience throughout the film. The launch of the single will be followed by a stunning music video directed by Tim Palen.

Janet’s previous film tracks have been critical and popular successes. Her first foray into film themes, the ballad “Again,” led her to an Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nomination. The song was featured her first feature film Poetic Justice. Her success with music in films also includes the lead single from the film The Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. The track titled “Doesn’t Really Matter,” which she also co-wrote, entered the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was also featured in her seventh album “All for You,” which came out the following year and for which Janet received another Grammy Award® for Best Dance Recording.

Janet’s most recent single “Make Me” was featured on her Number Ones album, a collection of number one chart topping songs and “Make Me” was no exception. “Make Me” the single from her Number Ones CD hit the top of the Billboard Dance Charts this year. The album NUMBER ONES features 33 worldwide number one hits.

Why Did I Get Married Too? is Janet’s fourth film following a string of number one box office openers.

Apparition To Release ‘The Runaways’ Starring Kristen Stewart And Dakota Fanning On March 19 After Premiere At Sundance

Posted on 13 January 2010 by mosaec

New York—January 13, 2010— Apparition will open THE RUNAWAYS in over 1400 theaters on March 19. The music-fueled story of the ground-breaking, all girl, teenage rock band of the 1970s stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Danielle Riley Keough, Scout Taylor-Compton (TV’s “Arrested Development”), and Michael Shannon. The film marks the first theatrical collaboration between Apparition and River Road Entertainment. Executive Produced by Joan Jett and Produced by River Road and Linson Entertainment, THE RUNAWAYS will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival Sunday, January 24.

Directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film was produced by John Linson, Art Linson and Bill Pohlad. Joan Jett, Kenny Laguna and Brian Young serve as executive producers.

The film follows two friends, Joan Jett (KRISTEN STEWART) and Cherie Currie (DAKOTA FANNING), as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (MICHAEL SHANNON), who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself—and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten. The film co-stars Danielle Riley Keough, Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve, and Tatum O’Neal.

Other credits include: Casting by Wendy O’Brien, C.S.A.; Music Supervisor George Drakoulias; Music by Lillian Berlin; Costume Designer Carol Beadle; Film Editor Richard Chew, A.C.E.; Production Designer Eugenio Caballero; Director of Photography Benoit Debie; Co-Producer David Grace; Based on the Book “Neon Angel: the Cherie Currie Story” by Cherie Currie; Screenplay by Floria Sigismondi.

14-Year-Old Classical Singer’s Dreams are Coming True with Release of Debut CD

14-Year-Old Classical Singer’s Dreams are Coming True with Release of Debut CD

Posted on 02 September 2009 by mosaec

Charlie Baggett Los Angeles,CA (September 2, 2009) — With a voice and command of the stage expected from a performer twice his age – 14-year-old Charlie Baggett is already making a name for himself in the world of classical singing. And with his debut CD I Only Dream of You already earning accolades from fans and critics alike, this rising star is destined for greatness.

“You could easily believe that you were listening to Il Divo, Andrea Bocelli or even a younger Pavarotti,” says reporter André Gensburger of The Concordian. “Such is the power of his performance. Baggett is poised to become a household name in the near future.”

I Only Dream of You is a collection of songs ranging from the well-known “Time to Say Goodbye,” on which Baggett has been compared to Josh Groban in style and vocal range, to the familiar and religiously popular “Ave Maria.” The cover song, “I Only Dream of You,” is one of the three original compositions scored for Baggett by producer Annabelle Marie, a talented musician and writer in her own right – who penned this song to truly reflect who Baggett is. Critics have described “I Only Dream of You”, as richly emotional music, reminiscent of a theatrical love song.

This incredible talent has been performing since the age of 6 as an a cappella soloist and for the last few years has been wowing Bay Area audiences as a soloist for VOENA Children’s Choir, which has performed worldwide and for Presidents Bush and Clinton at the Pageant of Peace. Baggett regularly brings the audience to their feet with his show closing performances of “O Holy Night”. More recently Baggett was a guest vocal artist with the acclaimed California Symphony for a crowd of more than 4-thousand.

Even with his commitment to his art, Baggett finds time for his other loves, animals and flying. His big heart and compassion has led him to contribute his talents to the Animal Rescue Foundation’s first ever “Prodigies for Pets” concert, where he shared the stage with such performers as Jonathan Cain of Journey, Carlos Reyes and Karl Perazzo from the band Santana. Perazzo describes Baggett as “a conduit to the divine.”

And if that weren’t enough Baggett loves to take to the skies. He is a pilot in training and mans a Cessna 172 every chance he gets. His other ambitious goals include flying solo by his 16th birthday and getting his pilot’s license by his 17th. Baggett says his love of flying is in his genes, “Everyone up to my great grandfather was involved in aviation in some way or another, so that is where I think I get my “Aviation Urge”.”

Biggest ZOMBIE Movie of All Time Sets 3D Premiere at Legendary Rocker Johnny Ramone’s Memorial Tribute

Biggest ZOMBIE Movie of All Time Sets 3D Premiere at Legendary Rocker Johnny Ramone’s Memorial Tribute

Posted on 21 August 2009 by mosaec

San Diego, CA (August 21, 2009) — The original 1968 version of the mother of all zombie films, George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead”, has risen from the dead — literally — as the film’s 3D conversion is complete and its world premiere is now set. San Diego based 3D producer PassmoreLab, in conjunction with the Johnny Ramone Army, has confirmed that the World Premiere of the movie will take place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 3, 2009, as a part of the 5th Annual Johnny Ramone Tribute.

Ramones’ guitarist Johnny Ramone created the enduring template for punk rock guitar. With his blazing power chords and brutal licks energizing Ramones’ classics like “Blitzkrieg Bop”, “Rockaway Beach” and “Sheena is a Punk Rocker”, Johnny inspired generations of punk bands until his untimely death from prostate cancer in 2004, at age 55. His annual tribute, now in its fifth year and attended by thousands of fans, takes place at the foot of his 8 ft. memorial bronze statue inside the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

“Johnny was a huge horror movie buff, and ‘Night of the Living Dead’ was one of his top ten horror film favorites of all time. We’ve started a tradition screening some of Johnny’s favorite movies, paired in a double feature with vintage Ramones concerts each year at the annual tribute,” said John Cafiero, Chief of Staff of the Johnny Ramone Army. “We are working with PassmoreLab on another project, and it was just great timing and a perfect fit to show ‘Night of the Living Dead 3D’ for the very first time at the tribute. You couldn’t ask for a better setting… It’s going to be spectacular.”

“Night of the Living Dead”, originally shot in black and white over 40 years ago, was painstakingly restored, colorized and converted, frame by frame into full 3D using Passmorelab’s proprietary technology. The process, which took over 12 months to complete at a cost greater than the film’s original production budget, was no small feat.

“I am a huge fan of this movie, and so it had to be done with complete precision,” said Greg Passmore, president of PassmoreLab. “We love the genre and as cult classics go, this is mother of them all. If you are going to convert a horror classic, this is the one you want to see in 3D.”

“Night of the Living Dead” is perhaps one of the greatest low budget cult movies ever made and is certainly one of the most influential. Its brutally harrowing documentary-style shooting can be seen in many latter-day films including “The Blair Witch Project” and “Cloverfield”, which earned hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide, respectively.

“Night of the Living Dead” was #9 on Bravo’s 100 Scariest Movie Moments and #4 on Johnny Ramone’s top ten list of horror movies. In 2001, the American Film Institute (AFI) named the film to a list of 100 important thrillers.

“We think fans of the film, young and old, will really like zombies in 3D,” said Steve Glum, PassmoreLab’s head of Branding & Distribution. “For the purists out there, this is the original film, converted into 3D for everyone to enjoy again, but now in 3D for the first time. The fact that we are premiering it at the cemetery will just add to the history of the film and its enduring legacy as one of the greatest of all time.”

The World Premiere of “Night of the Living Dead 3D” and the Johnny Ramone Tribute event are open to the public for a $10 per person minimum donation entrance fee with net proceeds benefiting the Johnny Ramone prostate cancer research fund at USC Westside Prostate Cancer Center lead by Dr. David Agus. Gates for the event will open at 5:30pm, and picnic dinners, drinks (including alcohol), pillows, blankets and small chairs are permitted. Attendees of the event will get free commemorative 3D glasses upon entering. Celebrity guest speakers will be in attendance and autograph signings will be scheduled with sole surviving founding member, Ramones drummer & producer Tommy Ramone, and youngest member CJ Ramone. Rare memorabilia will be exhibited along with an art show (curated by Barbara Ramone), of original paintings by the legendary Ramones bassist Dee Dee Ramone, who will receive special homage at the event, as well. Opening featurettes include animated music videos from the Johnny Ramone Army and Osaka Popstar, presented for the first time anywhere in 3D by PassmoreLab. The evening concludes with a vintage Ramones concert shot in 1977 entitled “Its Alive” and the world premiere of “Night of the Living Dead 3D”.

“Johnny felt this movie was shot amazingly and looked genuinely scary,” said Linda Ramone, wife of the legendary guitarist. “He would have been thrilled that the 3D version of the original ‘Night of the Living Dead’ had its world premiere at his tribute. He loved horror movies and he loved the polarized 3D exhibits, so experiencing one of his favorite films that way is something Johnny would have really enjoyed. It’s perfect for the event.”

“Night of the Living Dead 3D” can be seen in selected US theatres and in wide release in 3D theaters in Europe, starting in October. “Night of the Living Dead 3D” will be available in anaglyph DVD on Amazon.com by Christmas, and a 3D TV version will be available when 3D BluRay becomes commercially available.

Salsa Music Artist Marino Luis’ New Album Hits Every Note

Salsa Music Artist Marino Luis’ New Album Hits Every Note

Posted on 29 July 2009 by mosaec

In his latest release ‘Viento en Popa,’ salsa artist Marino Luis blossoms to reveal a bolder, more musically stimulating sound that simultaneously charms loyal Latin music listeners and salsa neophytes alike. With more than 14 years as an industry insider, Luis is out to introduce music fanatics worldwide to the authentic sound of Colombia’s Pacific coast.

Washington, DC (July 29, 2009) — From the intensity and vigor with which salsa crooner Marino Luis belts out harmonies on his latest project ‘Viento en Popa,’ one would think he was vying for a shot in the spotlight. But, in reality, he’s been there for a while.

A former backup singer for world renowned salsa legend Yuri Buenaventura, Luis has been leaving his musical mark for decades. With his second album, ‘Viento en Popa,’ the songster graduates from vocalist to producer, having orchestrated musical arrangements for 10 of the CD’s 12 tracks.

In creating ‘Viento en Popa,’ Luis drew from his multitude of experience as a salsa musician and songwriter in order to craft a wide-ranging yet musically thorough album. Well represented on the disc is the tropical, classic salsa of Colombia’s Pacific coast for which Luis is widely known; but “Viento en Popa’ reaches across musical aisles to borrow sounds from close genres like bachata, bolero, and even reggaeton.

Everyday life influenced Luis to assemble the collection of singles found on ‘Viento en Popa.’ While many salsa compilations rotate around the universal themes of love lost and love found, ‘Viento en Popa’ explores beyond such topics to touch a far-reaching audience with ‘Obama: El Cambio,’ ‘Mi Lindo Regalo,’ and other singles. Not only did Luis lend his vocal and production skills to his latest album, he is also responsible for writing six of the CD’s tracks. While ‘Viento en Popa’ is only Luis’ second solo disc, he has already garnered a strong following in his native Buenaventura, Colombia as well as Spain and the United States. Thanks to more than 10 years of touring worldwide with first-rate salsa groups, Luis’ ripened musical talents are on full display throughout ‘Viento en Popa.’

Produced by Washington, DC-based Acuario Productions, ‘Viento en Popa’ has already been hailed as a hit with listeners in Cali and Buenaventura, Colombia, up and down the east coast of the United States, various cities in Europe, and salsa hotspots through Latin America. A tour is in the works and is projected to kick-off in early fall 2009 with stops in North and South America as well as Europe.

Chris Brown Apology

Chris Brown Apology

Posted on 15 February 2009 by mosaec

A week after his felony arrest in Los Angeles on charges of making a criminal threat, musician Chris Brown apologizes for his acts in a statement released through his publicist Michael Sitrick. Brown says:

Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writing under my name are frauds.
